"Individual and Group offers something for EVERYONE to talk about..."
Activity 'Acers'
"Take me out of the speech room..." Clients participate in their favorite extra-curricular activities while their speech therapist a.k.a "Number One Fan" cheers them on! Students are discreetly cued to practice new speech and language skills in their natural environment.
Community Caregivers
"Pay it Forward" to gain perspective taking, empathy, and conversational skills while learning the value of helping others in the community. Caregivers participate in helping local community agencies and projects, "adopting" families, seniors, and being a positive role model to others.
Respectful Reporters
Children build self-confidence and increase their awareness of the world around them through "reporting" current events. Reporters increase grammar, sentence structure, and perspective taking. Adjusting volume and tone of voice to the listening audience is also addressed.
Environment Engagers
Generalize newly learned speech and language strategies while growing an appreciation and respect for preserving the environment. Engagers collaborate on projects to conserve our resources to keep the earth and its inhabitants healthy for future generations.
Junior Journalists
Improve verbal and written expression while validating the importance of our thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Journalists expand receptive and expressive vocabulary, while strengthening thought organization, sequencing and story telling skills. Students verbally share with peers in a safe and respectable environment.
Career Catchers
Prepare for the future! Catchers practice new speech and language strategies through researching careers, vocations, and training requirements. Clients are given the opportunity to observe and "interview" someone in their profession of choice. Older students learn job search techniques, how to write effective resumes, and interviewing "Do's and Dont's".
Polite Pen Pals
An enriching experience for students of all ages to participate in. Clients improve social communication, receptive and expressive language, and literacy while corresponding with a peer via traditional mail. Pen pals are also given the opportunity to connect via videoconferencing. Students have fun and build peer relationships!
